Grand Opening of Public Armoury

November 16th, 2013 | Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments

The Public Armoury of Colonial Williamsburg celebrated it’s Grand Opening this weekend.

The five million dollar Armoury complex has been completed with an expanded blacksmith shop and a numberof other buildings, including the newly reconstructed tinsmith shop adjacent to the forge.

The complex was a vital part of our nation’s history as it played a major role in outfitting our militiaduring the revolution. Large numbers of laborers toiled over hot fires in James Anderson’s BlacksmithShop producing muskets, cooking utensils, and other products in order to supply our troops.

The Public Armoury is a definite must see on your next trip to Colonial Williamsburg where new exhibits are ever changing!
