Jamestown’s Archaeologist Honored

Jamestown’s archaeologist, William Kelso, will be honored with one of Britain’s highest awards – honorary commander of the Order of the British Empire. Archaeologists, working at Historic Jamestown Island under the direction of Kelso, have discovered over 1.4 million artifacts . Current digs have revealed the church where Pocohontas and David Rolfe were married in the early 1600′s.

The Order of the British Empire dates back to 1917 and was established by King George the V.
